Single Servings.

We’ve all finished our first week in the Biggest Loser Contest at Precision Fitness. I managed to not gain any weight, but not lose any either.  How in the world is that possible?  I think I need to eat more.  Seriously.  I think I don’ t eat enough during the day.  It goes back to when a girl on my bus in first grade got sick.  I don’t like to eat in the morning.  I never have.  I never liked to eat lunch either.  I just always grazed from 3 p.m. on .  And I grazed up until bed time.  I have to change my eating habits.  Every thing I’ve ever read says to eat 6 small meals a day.  Today I made an effort to eat breakfast,  a bowl of plain instant oatmeal.  It wasn’t awful and kept me full until mid morning when I ate some steamed broccoli with hot-sauce.  I love hot sauce.  Then Nathan and I went to the gym where we are doing the cardio competition this week.  I did 50 minutes, and he did 45.  He ran though, I did the bike and ran.  That’s a lot of cardio for me.  Tomorrow, neither of us will make it to the gym because he has to leave the house at 4:30 a.m. to head out for work, and I have to stay here with the girls, I think it would be silly to ask Debra to come at 5 am.  What do you think?  HA.  So I can’t go in the morning.  Olivia has dance at Laurel Arts Dance center tomorrow night. No, she’s not a Prima Ballerina, but we did make a commitment for her to dance this year, and dance she does.  Oh my, she’s the cutest little thing in her dance class.  They are dancing to “Thank Heavens, for Little Girls” and they do the cutest little dance, if the other moms don’t’ mind, I’ll post the video… but I think I have to ask them first because their kids are in it. But anyway, so gym is out of the question tomorrow.  This doesn’t mean that exercise is out of the question,  it means that we won’t make it to the gym.  I’ve mentioned that this happens to us, but we’re in a competition right now… so Nathan and I have to make up the cardio at some point this week!  Game on!  Ha ha.  I have a few co-workers who are in the Biggest Loser challenge also, and it’s nice to know someone in the office to support too.  I mean, we spend all day together, so we should be supportive of one another right?  All of the sickness appears to be gone in my house so we should be back to normal here.  As far as normal goes!  Nathan and I grocery shopped for the week, or a few weeks it feels like and we planned for healthy meals, with a lot of fruits and vegetables.  I have to make sure to pre-plan my meals and think about snacks before I’m running around in the morning like a momma with my head cut off.  I prepared some chicken for the week , some rice, and have cut some broccoli, and put it in containers in the fridge.  Cooked chicken makes for easy recipes after work: Stir fry, wraps, salads, you name it.  It makes life a lot easier.  And since I have to make a concerted effort to eat, I prepared single serve veggie baggies and fruit so that we can all just grab what we need and pack it in our lunch bags. Sunday becomes a day of preparation in my house.  I see my other mom friends who work, and those who don’t work using Sunday as a prep day too.  I think it helps.  I put a lot of positive energy in my Sunday too.  Church is always a helpful part of the day, although today’s sermon didn’t interest me or Nathan, so we skipped it.  Honestly, spending time with our kids and our pets is sometimes just what we need to do to get balanced for the week. I realize I’ve rambled today, but it’s been a great productive day and I’m thrilled and looking forward to a great week.  Last week was so fantastic, that if this week is a repeat, I will be just thrilled. I’m so thankful for all of the opportunities that are presenting themselves, and for the ones that I’ve worked really hard to achieve.  Olivia and Alison Run the Daily American 5K 2008
