It's a Journey!

I’m looking at my schedule and thinking I’m absolutely insane.  I went to the gym with my friend today and guess what?  You guessed it… same weight!  Ha ha.  Oh well.  I made it there though didn’t I ?  I was starting to get frustrated with pretty much everything on this weight loss/fitness journey until I realized a few things:
1.    It didn’t just happen, all this weight, the lack of fitness.  Afterall, I’m not 18 anymore, I’ve had a few babies and well, I’m pretty much sitting at my desk all day long unless I’m sitting on my butt watching tv on the couch.    So now I’m moving.  I go to the gym a few days a week, probably more than most, but not as much as the winners are.  But I go!  And that is awesome.

2.    When in the world would I have made time to make salmon, fresh greenbeans and a beautiful salsa type sauce with fresh ingredients prior to this contest?  Um, probably I would have, because I like to cook, but I am aware of what goes in my mouth now .  Easter’s coming.  No chocolate bunnies for this momma this year.

3.    Weekend activities and my activities after work have always consisted of outdoors and fun active things to do.  BEFORE this journey of health and fitness there would have been quite a bit of whining prior to the event, even though I knew I would enjoy it in the end.  Now I just do it.  And I like it.  And that’s it.

4.    We all can’t be winners.  I’ll let you just mull that one over for a bit… because it startled me too.  We all can’t be the biggest loser, or the best cook or the healthiest whatever—but we can win in whatever WE are trying to achieve.  Phew.  That took a lot out of me.

5.    I’m darn darn darn proud of everyone who has attempted fitness and health in the new year and who is still with us after 3 full months.  Let’s keep up the good work.

So there is the goal.  I found it..  I was frustrated because I wasn’t sure that there was one and that I didn’t know how in the world I was going to achieve a non goal.  Just keep going on the journey of life.  Maybe that is just the goal… enjoy it the best you know how.  I know I am!

  • So true even thiugh I may not be losing weight as I have hoped I do feel like I am not getting as sore after my workouts. I have more energy sometimes I like how I feel after working out and some clothes that fit before are now loose. I can not wait for it to get nicer out and I have plans for the summer. More walking or Riding my bike with my dogs. I would like to ride the Allegany Trail in Ohiopyle and cool off in the waters afterward, I want to just get out more, Go fishing and eat more fish and with our garden and fruits growing and I plan to go to the Farmers Market often. And make healthy meals with those fruits and veggies. This summer Is looking up.
