Do you like HILLS, HILLS, and MORE HILLS???

If so, I have got the race for you! This morning, I participated in the Greenfield Glide 5K through Schenley Park in Pittsburgh. It was about 75 degrees at race time (8:30am) and sunny. It was a larger turnout than I was expecting, and the crowd was pumped and excited. I met a lot of fun people while we were waiting for the gun start and even had 2 people tell me that I didn't look old enough to have kids (WOO HOO!) The first 1.3 miles were mostly downhill, but the rest was all uphill! The beginning and end of the course were on a paved road, and the remainder of the course was on a dirt/gravel trail. It was pretty challenging. Because of the hills and the heat, there were 2 water stations.



I did the first mile in a little under 7 minutes because I knew that the uphill battle on the way back was going to be tough. I crossed the 2 mile mark at 16 minutes, exactly. The last hill was terrible and I really struggled just to keep moving. There was some guy right behind me that was making this really annoying sound (I think you can hear it in the video) and I literally ran faster just to try to get away from him.

I think my official time was 26:07, which isn't great for me, but considering the hills, I am pretty happy with it.



Now, to the controversy. According to the times by Run High, I placed second in my age division. But...first place was won by someone named FRANK! He/she wasn't present during the awards, so I am not sure what is going to happen. I do plan to email the race director to see if I truly placed first in my age. First place in the age gets a gift certificate to a local restaurant in addition to the medal, so if I won it, I would like to have that, know what I mean?
